A 3D action-adventure game in a unique fantasy world

Effie is an action-adventure game set in a fantasy world inspired by old-school video games of the same genre. It features an art style that is cartoonish, a large world to explore, and a number of gameplay styles, including combat, platforming, and puzzles.

Though this game is single-player only, it bears some visual resemblance to World of Warcraft, a mega-popular fantasy MMORPG. Like WoW and similar games, the player’s goal is to free various cities from a powerful evil. A more direct influence, as stated by the devs, would be A Hat in Time.

Become a young man in an old man’s body

In Effie, the player takes on the role of Galand, a young man who has been cursed into premature old age by a witch. He is on a quest to recover his youth and must travel around the game’s large world while defeating sinister creatures, overcoming platforming challenges, and solving complex puzzles along the way.

Third-person action-adventure

The gameplay style of Effie will be familiar to anyone who has played games like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, or any other 3D platformer. The player is controlled from a third-person perspective, and the player character has a range of moves and attacks to make fighting and moving through the world easier and more fun.

Fun but generic experience

Fans of this type of game should find something enjoyable about Effie, while others may be interested in the story and art style on offer. However, it should be said that some players have criticized the game for being a little too generic. It does little to set itself apart from many similar games available today.
